The FDG-PET scan showed higher radioactivity in the left testis than in the right one and left testicular disorder was thus suspected. Following examinations of testes ruled out diseased left testis and revealed an atrophic right testis, which resulted in a decrease in FDG uptake and asymmetric picture. To our knowledge, testicular atrophy causing decrease in FDG uptake has not yet been reported. In reading a picture of asymmetric testicular FDG activity, the possibility of unilateral atrophic testis that absorbs less radioactivity should be kept in mind.

Early detection of intravascular large B-cell lymphoma by 18FDG-PET/CT with diffuse FDG uptake in the lung without respiratory symptoms or chest CT abnormalities

Intravascular large B-cell lymphoma (IVLBCL) is a rare and aggressive subtype of systemic extranodal non-Hodgkin diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). We report a rare case of IVLBCL who showed diffuse 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake in the lung in FDG-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) without respiratory symptoms or chest CT abnormalities. Serum biochemical studies...

Sports activity done five days before PET/CT results in augmented FDG uptake in skeletal muscles

Increased metabolic activity in muscle secondary to excessive muscle activity during the uptake phase and shortly before FDG injection is a known phenomenon. We present FDG PET/CT findings in a young male, known case of carcinoma maxilla His scan showed diffuse increased metabolic activity in multiple skeletal muscle groups. There was history of unaccustomed, strenuous sports activity of skiing...

18FDG PET/CT in pulmonary carcinosarcoma and brain metastasis

Carcinosarcoma is a rare type of cancer that is composed of a mixture of sarcomatous and carcinomatous elements. Pulmonary carcinosarcoma has a 25% five-year survival rate with a prognosis poorer than other non-small cell lung carcinomas. Herein, we report a case of pulmonary carcinosarcoma and its 18F-FDG PET/CT findings. A 61-year-old male patient presented with brain symptoms, including hea...

Inflammatory Pseudotumor in the Epidural Space of the Lumbosacral Spine on F-18 FDG PET/CT

An inflammatory pseudotumor (IPT) is a rare benign lesion, characterized by nonneoplastic proliferation of inflammatory cells and presence of intermingling collagen fibers. IPT commonly occurs in the lungs and orbita, while an intraspinal IPT is extremely rare. IPT can mimic both clinically and radiologically malignant processes, and making a definitive preoperative diagnosis is often difficult...
